My goal is always to create good humans using dance as the medium. I am a positive, encouraging teacher who enjoys being in the classroom. I have firm boundaries that garner respect and integrity but I am also able to allow for fun, creative and emotional expression. My students know when hard work and focus are being asked of them but they also know that it's good to be joyful in my space. I fight the notion that, in order to create strong dancers, ballet needs to be taught in abusive ways.

I focus on learning about my students and creating an individual relationship with them. These relationships help foster a collaborative environment where students can explore themselves as people through dance. I value an inquisitive atmosphere in the studio and I follow my students’ lead. I assess every student from their strengths and I meet them where they’re at. 

My passion for dance comes across naturally which I know helps motivate my students. I’ve taken many students who were reluctant about ballet and transformed their relationship with the discipline. Where once they found it dull and boring, with my teaching, they grow to love its challenges, they embrace its beauty.

I come to class with a plan in mind, but I am open to spontaneous exploration based on my students’ needs. I teach students about their body, holistically, using dance to teach anatomy. I stay open to learning and improving my pedagogical style.
